If you’re thinking of remodeling or adding on to your home, you’re not alone.

With more and more of us working from home, we have daily opportunities to envision transforming that outdated, unattractive space into something inviting and cozy.

To help inspire you, we’ll introduce you to three “hot” hearth products:

  1. Wood insert – Evergreen NexGen-Fyre™ Insert
  2. Gas fireplace – 864 40K Clean Face Deluxe Gas Fireplace
  3. Linear gas fireplace – ProBuilder 54 Linear Deluxe

Contemporary Wood Insert with Big Heat Output:
Evergreen NexGen-Fyre™ Insert

Wood stoves and inserts are seeing a huge resurgence in popularity due to the skyrocketing costs of heating fuel.

Our friends at Travis Industries in Mukilteo, WA (manufacturer of the FPX and Lopi brands) are putting a lot of effort into creating renewable fuel products that use wood and pellets. In 2020, they completely updated their entire lineup of wood stoves and inserts, making them cleaner burning, longer burning, and with a larger view of the flames.

New in 2022 is the Evergreen NexGen-Fyre™ Wood Insert. This sleek, stylish mid-sized insert hits the mark on performance, function, and design.

Featuring clean lines that complement any home’s décor, the insert heats up to 2000 sq. ft.

  • It has a massive, 183 sq. in. viewing area of the fire.
  • Its large, 2.2 cu. ft. firebox allows up to 10 hours of burn time on a single load of fuel.
  • A European three-piece cast iron door and pinch seal assembly creates the tightest seal from the door to the firebox.
  • The insert has a heavy-gauge steel unibody construction, and a bypass damper (eliminating those cough-inducing, smoky starts of yesteryear).

The result is reliable heat for decades to come.

NexGen-Fyre® Technology

The Evergreen insert features NexGen-Fire technology, in which the primary and secondary combustion are harnessed to create the ultimate blended combustion system that produces beautiful, balanced fires with:

  • double the BTU range
  • up to 50% greater heat output
  • longer burn times than any other non-catalytic technology

Applicable for 2021-2023 Tax Credit

Finally, the Evergreen NexGen-Fyre™ Insert is eligible for a tax credit. According to the Hearth, Patio, & Barbecue Association (HPBA), consumers buying highly efficient wood or pellet stoves may be eligible to claim a 26% tax credit that is uncapped and based on the full cost (purchase and installation) of the unit.

In plain English, this means that the purchase cost of the insert and installation costs, venting, and accessories are all applicable for this write-off.

Details About the Tax Credit

Effective Dates: The new tax credit under Sec. 25(D) of the U.S. Internal Revenue Code (“IRC” or “tax code”) came into effect on January 1, 2021 for qualifying purchases and installations completed on or after that date, through December 31, 2023.

Credit Amount: Creates a new tax credit of 26 percent of the purchase and installation costs (with no cap or lifetime limit) for tax years 2021 and 2022; moves down to 22 percent of purchase and installation costs in 2023 (under Sec. 25D of the U.S. tax code)
