Same great fair. New name.
The Puyallup Fair has renamed itself the Washington State Fair so it can attract big-name entertainers and national sponsors who can't pronounce Puyallup (pewALup) and don't know where Puyallup is (according to fair spokeswoman Karen LaFlamme, in an article in the Seattle PI). The Puyallup — er — Washington State Fair — is also the largest fair in the state.
So whether you want to "do the Puyallup" or "do the Washington State Fair" (that's a mouthful!), you can "do" the fair from Friday, September 6 through Sunday, September 22.
Rich's will be at The Washington State Fair, of course. We’re excited to be exhibiting (and selling) a limited-edition selection of stoves and spas at our booth. Once the fair ends, these products will no longer be available.
Plus, during the fair, we offer “Fair Pricing” — our best prices of the year at Rich's five Puget Sound Showrooms in Tacoma, Southcenter, Silverdale, Bellevue and Lynnwood.
A bit 'o Puyallup trivia:
Since 1976, people have been humming, singing, and dancing to the 'Do the Puyallup' jingle. You can listen the the jingle here, in three versions:
Download the sheet music so you can play and sing along!

Tips for doin' The Puyallup:
Create a personalized itinerary for your day(s) at the fair here. Check out the Interactive Map of the fairgrounds, the daily Events Calendar and Featured Attractions and click to add items to your planner.
Be sure to check out Deals & Discounts page for freebies and special promotions. On opening day morning (Sept. 6 from 9 a.m. to noon) you get in free when you donate a non-perishable food item. The 2012 Opening Day Free Gate Food Drive collected 200,000 pounds of food for the Puyallup Food Bank!
No trip to the fair would be complete without the Washington State Fair staple for over 100 years: Fair Scones filled with fresh berries and slathered with whipped cream.
You’ll also find yummy artery-clogging fare such as funnel cakes, steak on a stick, onion rings, curly fries, elephant ears, caramel apples, cotton candy, fudge, deep fried bubble gum, deep fried lemonade, and everybody’s favorite, deep fried Twinkies.
And since Puyallup is a bit off the beaten track, you might need driving directions to get there.
Have a great time doin' the Puyallup, and be sure to stop by Rich's booth and say hi!
