If you live in a home that doesn’t have a gas line or chimney, or you want supplemental heat for a bedroom, office, or even a master bath, consider an electric fireplace. They’re safe, convenient, economical, and easy to install.
We like the new 564 electric fireplace (manufactured for the Lopi, Avalon, and Fireplace Xtrordinair brands). The 564 E features realistic, brightly glowing flames surrounded by a massive fire viewing area. The secret to the flames that resemble a wood-burning fire is the advanced LED lighting technology. Low-energy LED lights built into the log set and ember bed produce the illusion of highly detailed flames over a bed of warm embers.
This fireplace comes standard with decorative interior display options, including a glowing log set with embers (pictured above) or the choice of acrylic embers or crushed glass.
The 564 electric fireplace can be installed into a pre-built fireplace cabinet, into an existing wall, or into any existing fireplace opening and used as an insert.
Installation couldn’t be easier. Simply plug it in to a standard 110 VOLT wall outlet. A built-in 5,000 BTU heater with an air-circulating fan provides gentle heat for up to 400 sq. ft. The fireplace is safe for children and pets to be around, because the glass does not get hot to the touch. If you prefer to enjoy the ambiance of the flames without the heat, you can turn off the heater.
Cost to Operate
The cost to operate the 564 E is approximately 3 cents an hour with the flame on, and 8 cents an hour when both the flame and heater are on. (Cost estimates are based on average national residential rates.)
A user-friendly remote comes standard and can operate virtually every function of the fireplace, from heat output to the interior display lighting.
One of the outstanding features of this fireplace is the ability to customize the interior, decorative faces and installation. Let’s take a look at these options.
Four different decorative interiors are included with each fireplace. They include a glowing logset and a selection of three translucent colored media in Platinum, Orange and Mixed Glass.
Classic Arch – A graceful arched opening highlights the viewing glass. The design of the heat exchange area has the appearance of woven lace.
French Country – The unique arch with its floral garland design comes in metallic black paint.
Metropolitan – A linear, contemporary style with beveled edges that create an intriguing, three-dimensional appearance.
Artisan – hand-forged and hammered by master blacksmiths. Pictured below: hand-rubbed bronze patina.
Architectural Doors – These beautiful doors, which can be opened, create the illusion of a much larger fireplace. Pictured below: rectangular double doors and arched double doors. Both doors have a metallic black paint finish.
Matrix – This limited edition face features offset, layered crimson pinstripes over black in a structured geometric grid.
Fireplace Cabinet – Available in oak or walnut veneer, these cabinets allow the fireplace to be installed against any wall in your home. You can easily relocate your fireplace to another room at any time.
Metro Stainless Steel Mantel – This striking contemporary accessory is constructed of brushed nickel sheet metal with a textured black power-coated hearth base.
