With Fall and Winter fast approaching, many of you will soon be restarting the pilot flames on your older (pre-GreenSmart) standing pilot gas stoves, inserts, or fireplaces (natural gas or propane). With that in mind, we want to remind you of this important safety rule:

TO REDUCE THE RISK OF SERIOUS PERSONAL INJURY OR PROPERTY DAMAGE, ALWAYS REMOVE THE FRONT GLASS ASSEMBLY ON ANY PRODUCT CONTAINING A GAS VALVE BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO RESTART THE PILOT FLAME.

A hazardous accumulation of gas can occur in the unit you do not carefully follow the lighting instructions in your owner’s manual. Following this important safety rule will reduce the risk of serious personal injury or property damage from shattered glass in the event gas has accumulated inside the unit.
