Three Key Features to Look for in an Outdoor Patio Heater

In Ambiance, Outdoor Heaters by JHCadminLeave a Comment

Patio heaters are a popular accessory in the Puget Sound area, where our climate is mild year-round. Outdoor heaters warm up outdoor kitchens, balconies and porches and are an essential component of garages and workshops.

Outdoor heaters do double-duty at cafés, restaurants, bars and hotels, providing both warmth and ambiance. They heat drafty spaces in athletic clubs, wineries, office buildings, and shopping areas.

At Rich's, we carry a full line of outdoor heaters. They come in many shapes and sizes, from portable table-toppers to 7-foot tall monoliths to wall- and ceiling-mounted. You can choose from natural gas, electric, or propane models.

When you’re shopping for an outdoor heater, evaluate these three factors:

1.  Heat Distribution

Know how much space you need to heat, and inquire about the heating range for the models you’re considering. You may decide to purchase several heaters and space them several feet apart for even heat distribution. Ask for an in-store demonstration before you buy.

2.  Innovative Design

Whether you like stainless steel, hammered bronze, or a black finish, chances are good that you’ll find an aesthetically pleasing design that enhances the décor of your outdoor space.

3.  Water/Splash Resistant

This is a huge factor in Western Washington, where rain is a constant companion. A sturdy outdoor heater should be able to sustain splashes of water from all angles and remain on. Of course, you’ll want to protect your heater – particularly an electric heater – from getting wet. But a splash-resistant heater is a definite bonus.

We’re excited about the Bromic brand of outdoor heaters, which we carry at Rich’s. Bromic heaters come standard with an easy-pivot arm bracket, which allows adjustment of heat direction. This provides greater versatility and heat coverage.

Bromic offers three product lines:

  1. Platinum Smart-Heat Gas Heater
  2. Tungsten Smart-Heat Gas
  3. Tungsten Smart-Heat Electric
